After 40 years of innovation in Magnetotellurics systems, Phoenix Geophysics is introducing the MTU-RT.

The MTU-RT is an evolution of the world famous MTU-5A. It has a unique capability of making time series available through any wireless communication technology, especially cellular technologies.

While the MTU-RT is acquiring data, Time series and metadata are securely backed up to a distant server. They can be accessed by FTP. Time series can also be accessed directly on the MTU-RT.

The MTU-RT can be controlled and operated from a phone, a laptop, a tablet, a desktop. You may opt to process your data from your connected device, process them to resistivities or simply look at the status of your instrument.

Miniaturization

Thanks to miniaturization, The MTU-RT is easily transportable. It can be easily added to your production operation as a semi-permanent remote reference . It can also be installed for monitoring and long term measurements.

With decreased power consumption, the MTU-RT can be powered by just a few solar panels. A battery bank, recharged by the panels during the day, delivers power to the MTU-RT.
Communications through internet needs only a small 3G Modem.

Simultaneous broadband AMT / MT (BMT)

With the addition of the new simultaneous AMT and MT, low-noise MTC-150 induction sensors, the MTU-RT deliver high quality broadband data from 10,000 Hz to 20,000 seconds+.

The MTU-RT is the only system that can broadcast broadband MT data. Making available the AMT band and the high frequency content of the MT band in a flexible way in real time is significant achievement.

The MTU-RT can serve as a remote reference for AMT surveys, MT surveys and BMT (simultaneous AMT and MT) surveys .

Fast sampling rates can be turned off to lower the volume of data recorded. We recommend 8 GB of cellular data for broadband operations, much less for regular MT operations.

TurnKey system, portable

The system is assembled and tested at our headquarters. It comes with the solar panels, the charger controller and optionally the 3G Modem. Controlling, QC/QA and processing software are all included in the SSMT2000 package. The MTU-RT and its data are part of the SSMT™ familly and are fully compatible with the MTU-5A and SSMT2000.

Simple and easy to install, the MTU-RT may be buried in the ground for longer operations. This also minimizes temperature variations in the system.

Online system and data

Acquisition settings can be adjusted according to ambient signal and noise levels. You can monitor your signal levels in real time, and tune your system from thousands of kilometers away.

Looking into extremely low frequencies, 30,000 seconds and lower? Connect to your MTU-RT and process time series without interrupting data acquisition. You can decide if you should keep recording to stack more and improve your S/N ratios.

The data (time series, header files and calibrations) are gathered on a server and accessible through FTP 24/7. Whether you need these data daily for remote reference purpose or want to share them with your colleagues, this can be done in a few clicks without moving from your office.

Remote diagnostic

With built-in A/D calibration and sensor calibration, users can remotely trigger the calibration routine from their phone or laptop. Results can be instantly checked on remote connected devices. Calibrations are recommended for accuracy of the results, and can also be used to check the integrity of the system.
